Spreken ze Español

My boss just said that to me and it made me laugh, so I'm sharing it with you. But it really has no bearing on this post. I just thought maybe it would make you laugh too. Or at least smile. Come on. Crack a smile, will ya?

I have some more great news, but I didn't want to overshadow TC's good news with my good news. I am quitting my job. I have my reasons, which I will explain to you in a few weeks. And I'm not planning on looking for gainful employment. I'm planning on staying home and being a homemaker. It's my dream job, and I am immensely excited about it. Just think of all the things I can accomplish, all the talents I can develop, all the wonderful ways in which I can manage our household... I am really REALLY looking forward to it.

Now, you have to know that I wouldn't share news without at least a bit of a whine, so here it is:
The majority of people who find out that I am going to be a homemaker tell me, in these exact words, "What are you going to do all day. You're going to be so bored."

If there is one thing I know about myself for sure is that I do not like to keep a tight schedule. So the idea of having free time all day is not overwhelmingly tear-inducing-boredom. It is freedom.

Anyway, my point is that I'm quitting, I'll be staying home, and I'm excited. And I won't be bored. And just because people have been telling me that I will be bored, out of spite, I am going to make sure that I'm never bored. (I like to set the bar high.)

  1. Was that Aaron? Because I love when he tries to speak Spanish.

And I do not think you'll be bored, and I'm super excited to see what talents you hone--please tell me one of your first projects will the the ABC poster? I loved the parts you posted before.

Still WAY excited that you get to be a homemaker!

  2. I, too, am interested to see what homemaking adventures and projects you'll come up with. Being a homemaker with kids is fun but comes with its frustrations at times. Like when I say to myself, "Ok, I'm going to accomplish X today." But then one kid wakes up early from a nap or another kid is particularly whiney and clingy or another kid throw a big fit and loses his privilege of watching a show AND THEN I can't accomplish X. And then I feel frustrated because I couldn't reach my goal. So. . .I think it's pretty cool that you'll be able to accomplish tons at home.

  3. how fun!! I can't imagine what you'll complete with your new found extra hours, considering all the amazing things you've done while you've been working! Can't wait!

  4. Yay! Not only will you be able to accomplish a lot in the way of projects, but you can also take up pilates and start tanning all the time and put the Housewives of Orange County to shame! Or at least catch up on all the episodes of Real Housewives from OC. Not having a job will totally rock. You've worked so hard these past forever years that you deserve the break! xoxo

  5. Awesome! As one who is home most of the day (since I only work about 4 hours a week), I can tell that there will be a few times here or there that you will be a little bored. But, for the most part, there are an amazing number of things that can fill your time. Enjoy!

  6. I'm sooooo jealous! How wonderful to have all that time all to yourself. If you do get bored, it will be by choice, and you'll probably even enjoy that.

Let me know if you ever want to hang out sometime. :)

  7. Woohoo for quitting your job! I love being a homemaker. Everything I do is for the betterment of my family and myself, not for some boss or company. So congrats!

  10. Those people lack imagination. You will so not be bored. There have been days that I'm home that I have not done a single thing, but it was never for lack of things to do.
